One - the fear of my loved ones dying (totally valid)
Two - the fear of judgement and ridicule of others
And Three - the nasty little voice in my head that’s telling me I’m wasting my life away because I’m not working hard enough or that there's no point in even trying becuse I'll fail regardless.
Now I realized that I’m not in control of 2/3 of the list above, but I am in control of how I react to other people’s opinions and I’m definitely in control of whether or not I listen to that hoe up inside my head. So this month, I’m embracing anything and everything that makes me happy as long as it’s physically, emotionally and financially responsible and doesn't cause harm to others.
If I'm feeling down and uninspired, I’m gonna dip out and go to a coffee shop or sit in the park. If I’m feeling stressed out and need to do a yoga session at work, I'm going to go into our break room and have a 5 minute yoga session. My job assignments can wait. If I want to get a little dressed up and wear a fun outfit to make myself feel confident and strong, I’m going to do it (even if it means disrespectful men catcall at me. Also, I’m planning to get a taser lol). If I want to post that picture on Instagram on a Saturday at 3 pm even though my insights say that’s not a good time to post, I’m going to freaking post it and stop worrying about the likes and followers.
This September, I’m taking back my power and putting myself in the driver’s seat again. I’m sick of constantly telling myself no because “oh goodness, what will people whom I barely know think of me” Nah, screw that. It’s time for me to do what I like, and it’s time for you to do the same … as long as it’s safe, doesn’t destroy your bank account, or have malicious intent.
Well that’s all for now folks. Thank you so much for reading this! You’re a real one, and your support means the world to me. And don't forget, you're never alone. I'm just an email/DM away if you need someone to talk to. Until next time my love.

Hi Friends!
I hope you're ready for a fresh start this week! I know I am. I took a mini break last week (ie I didn't work on my blog, go to the gym or say yes to any additional obligations outside of work) and I think it's just what I needed to prevent myself from burning out.. again. I hope you took the weekend to recharge. If not, I hope this post can help you have a mini escape from reality, even if it's just for 10 minutes. So here we go!
- Currently Loving - I've recently become obsessed with the site Camille Styles. Whenever I visit the site, I feel like I'm transported to a luxurious space that's dedicated to helping me become my best version.
- Beauty Sleep - Speaking of Camillestyles.com, this article about technology that helps you sleep is a game changer! I always struggle to fall asleep at night, so I'm excited to try some of these tools out.
- Boss Babe- This one is for all my aspiring entrepreneurs who are still working 9-5 jobs... aka me. This article is a great reminder that the current struggle is only temporary!
- Menu- Here is an inspiring food diary from someone who experimented with eating clean for two weeks. I find this article to be super inspiring. I'm trying to switch to a cleaner, healthier lifestyle, and this diary feels like my guide for dummies. I love this post because she talks about the emotions that come along with changing your diet.
- Pamper Time - Have you guys heard of butt masks? They are like sheet masks, but for your butt! I'm kind of intrigued, and this one is only $8, so why not!
- Shop Til You Drop - The Everygirl created this amazing Plus-Size Shopping Guide, because we all deserve to have access to fabulous, affordable clothes!
- Summer Lovin - I love this NY Times article about planning amazing trips with your S.O. this summer. It can be tough to travel together.
Weekly Lows
Besides my usual self-deprecating state of mind (I'm working on being kinder to myself in therapy), the Friday portion of Panorama got cancelled and that was a little devastating. This music festival was the only thing I was excited about this week. But hey, life goes on. I somewhat think the Friday cancellation was a blessing because I was forced to chill the hell out and rest. I’ll just have to befriend Migos and the Weekend another time. My brother was also rushed to the hospital this weekend. He has some serious autoimmune health issues, so my anxiety was through the roof all day Saturday. But I'm grateful for the medical team that was able to help him. This new chapter is scary, but I know my brother is strong enough to make it through this.
Weekly Highs
So there are three. The first one is sappy because it’s about my boyfriend. He’s so supportive and always tries to make me feel better. I was in such a negative state this week but he was patient and kind with me when I was feeling some type of way. Secondly, I got to see SZA and Gucci Mane in concert this weekend. It was worth every penny I spent! I forgot how amazing music festivals are. They seriously feed my soul. The third high was finding the podcast Jen Gotch is OK... sometimes. It focuses solely on mental health, which is right up my alley. This podcast got me through the work week! The biggest takeaway from the podcast I’ve had so far is, if I want to see changes in my life (ie. relationships, career, finances, apartments, fitness, you name it) I’m not going to see lasting results until I face all my internal demons and make time to process my emotions (barf). My therapist has told me this repeatedly, but I’ve ignored her (sometimes I have to learn lessons the hard way) but I’m finally ready to make time to deal with everything I’ve bottled up inside me. I know I’m blessed to live this life, but we’ve all experienced heartbreak, trauma and pain... and I’ve been running from mine but I’m ready to break through it! And I wish the same for you. Until next time my friend. Stay lovely!

Another week has come and gone. It's officially summer, and I'm baffled by how quickly this year is flying by. I'm still trying to figure how to stop letting life fly by me and actually enjoy each day. But hey, slow progress is still progress. In the meantime, here are some things I've found around the web this week. I hope you enjoy!
- For My ATL Peeps: I found out about this new lifestyle site called Infatuation and OMG I LOVE IT! I signed up for the NYC newsletter and yesterday the guide was about the best places to eat and drink on boats in the city... It's like this site can read my mind. But guess what, the site just announced an Atlanta section too! So now you'll never run out of things to do during your free time. You're welcome
- Shop Til You Drop:
- Saks is having a major sale! Up to 60% off site wide! Go be buojie on a budget; you deserve it.
- TopShop sale = up to 70% off ... aw yeah!
- Weekend Fun: I'm thinking about going to this Rosé on the Water event in NYC on July 12 (there's also one in Chicago on July 20th). It looks like a lot of fun.
- Menu: I never thought I would say this... but I've actually been enjoying cooking lately - mainly because it's an easy way to save a ton of money. And I'm very excited to make this healthier version of blueberry banana bread!
- On My Radar: I'm been kind of obsessed with Pretty Little Thing. The clothes are super cute and super affordable.
- Fight for what's right: This is super fucked up and is proof that the fight for immigration reform is far from over even though he who shall not be named just passed an executive order to stop family separation at the boarder.
- Gotta Get My Mind Right: Here's a free 5 minute meditation app that seems pretty cool. I love 5 minute meditation sessions because my mind is super active and I can only sit quietly for 5 minutes.
- You Are Enough: Here's a great article about not comparing yourself to others... something I struggle with daily.
- PRIDE: It is finally PRIDE weekend here in NYC and here is your guide to celebrating love & equality.
- Morning Moves: I just did this 12 minute morning yoga routine by Tone It Up and feel like a million bucks! It definitely got my blood pumping and activated a lot of muscles in my body. Try it if you need a quick pick-me-up!
- Wish List: Bauble Bar just launched their tropical jewelry collection... and I want it all! Check out some of my favorite pieces below - oh, and this section has affiliate links, just FYI.

I remember the days when summer meant long days by the pool, nature hikes with friends and trips to new destinations. Now that I'm a full-time adult (ew), I don't have the luxury to spend the summer traveling to different beaches or studying abroad in Europe. But just because I have a year-round nine-to-five, doesn't mean I can't daydream about jet-setting around the globe. And since I have summer Fridays, that means I am free to fill up this summer with weekend trips. This month, I've been obsessed with planning trips I can and can't afford quite yet. Planning future trips of a lifetime keeps me inspired and motivated to work my ass off so I can make these dreams become a reality. I hope this post inspires you to plan and start saving for a magical trip of your own. Let me know what's inspiring you this month. Lot's of love, and of course, thanks for taking a moment of your day to read my post. Your support means the world to me. Happy travels my friend!

Hi guys! I hope your week has been peaceful so far. I'm headed to LA this Friday for one of my best friend's birthdays. So even though I only have a four day work week, the past two days have dragged on! Thank the lord it's finally Wednesday though! Once we make it through today, it's basically the weekend, right? And to make the day pass a little faster, I rounded up some fun, interesting and entertaining things I've found around the web. Happy reading and I hope the rest of your week is filled with love and excitement!
Wanderlust: How to travel around the world in 54 days... challenge accepted!
Good Hair Day: I just found out about the online beauty retailer for women of color with natural, curly hair by women of color. The site also carries a ton of amazing skincare and other beauty products. Thank you, Jesus, for blessing us on this day. I'm going to try some of these products like this one for stretching curly hair!
French Girl Vibes: Here are 7 Beauty secrets Parisian Women Swear By. Now we can know how Parisian women pull off the effortlessly chic look/lifestyle.
I've Got the Music in Me: This kid is so precious! I wish I had half the amount of talent in this country kid. If you need a quick smile, watch this kid yodeler. It will make your day, trust me!
Beauty Sleep: I really want to try this anxiety-soothing bedtime lotion. Lord knows I need all the help I can get to drift off to sleep.
More Podcasts Please: Here are 9 Podcasts that help make adulthood a little less scary.
Eye Candy: A&F is making a comeback, and they just released a J.F.K. inspired clothing line for men... I'm intrigued. We all know I'm a sucker for well-dressed men.
Food for the Soul: I found this amazing poem a week or two ago about heartbreak. I think we can all relate to this subject.
Do Your Part: Thrive Global is helping women in prison find their purpose. This is such a heartwarming interview and I can't wait to find a way to get involved with the UnPrison Project.
Currently Loving: I'm officially obsessed with this brand Bardot on Revolve. Now I just have to wait for some of my favorite pieces to go on sale!
Weekly Highs and Lows: I don't really have any special weekly highs or lows. The past week was actually a blur, but I know I'll have something interesting to share after my LA trip. Until next time my dears, and thanks for reading!
Weekly Finds 3.28.18
March 28, 2018
This post went up a little late. I wanted to post it Saturday, but I kept holding myself back from publishing it. I felt like it wasn't good enough but now I'm home sick... trying to get some sleep and failing hardcaore at passing out thanks to #anxiety. So I figured I might as well get over my fear and post this bad boy right now. Regardless of the publication date, I hope this post brings you joy, laughter or inspires you to make a change this week. And if one of the links I share sparks a conversation, please feel free to leave a comment below. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Afterall, I created this blog to talk with (not to) you guys and share ideas with you guys. Lot’s of love!
Emotional Pickme Up: I don’t know about you guys, but seeing how children and teenagers have come together to make our country a safer place is incredible and inspiring. I will never underestimate children again. The generation growing up right now has access to more knowledge than ever before thanks to the internet, and these kids are driven. I am so confident that our country is going to be stronger than ever with these young leaders. Here’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 11-year old daughter giving a speech at the March For Our Lives rally. I hope this sweet, smart young girl fills you with as much hope as she did for me. Even if you don’t agree with her message, I think we can all agree that when the youth use their voices to fight against violence, it’s inspiring to see how much courage and passion they have.
Current Events: I’m sure you all saw the video of the young, black male who was executed in his grandparents' backyard. This is another tragic incident that shows how much our country still needs to heal. We are living in a crazy time and everyone is scared. I’m angry that two police officers were so quick to pull the trigger and end a 22 year olds life (even if he was stealing out of cars, he didn’t deserve to die), but I believe that this sad incident will lead to an enhanced training system for police that will help prevent more events like this from happening in the future.
How to Help: If you do anything today, please take time to watch or listen to this video about fighting global poverty. Leila Janah is creating innovative and creative ways to eliminate poverty by valuing every human life and helping others land jobs instead of just donating money. There’s just so many groundbreaking ideas in this video. I hope you make time to watch it.
Love Actually: I loved this article about spring cleaning your relationship because I’ve never applied Spring Cleaning to anything other than my home.
Menu: I love learning what other people eat during the day to stay fit, and this fitness guru’s diet is amazing! She eats three of my favorite things: eggs, vegan mac n cheese and pasta. She also doesn’t believe in cutting out desserts from your life.
Currently Loving: I've been so obsessed with polka dots lately! I'll share some of my favorite, affordable polkadot finds here on the blog next week. Are there any spring trends you've been obsessed with lately?
Wanderlust: Here are healthy ways to cure jetlag… I am sold.
More magical travel destinations to make you feel like you’re on another planet
Live Well: According to this article, you can burn a ton of calories through the act of “passive heating” while taking a bath… but the water has to be 104 degrees fahrenheit, so idk if I’m strong enough to handle that yet.
I gave up sweets for lent this year, so this article about cutting back on sugar is the lifesaver I need this week! I was beginning to crack.
Gotta Get My Mind Right: I feel like we all need to read this article about overcoming jealousy with social media constantly leading to major FOMO
Weekly Highs: My boyfriend moved into a really, really nice airbnb in Williamsburg while he waits for his new lease to begin in April or May. So naturally, I mooched and have been staying with him for majority of the week and am spending the weekend there for his birthday. Oddly, staying here has motivated me to work harder because I want to be able to afford a place like this in NYC before I’m 30. It’s been so incredible because I’m basically having a staycation. I’ve been needing a little retreat, and I’ve been needing it badly.
Weekly Lows: So… I did something stupid. I binge watched all 50+ episodes of Buzzfeed Unsolved Mysteries series. The series is sooooo good, but I’ve also been soooo paranoid because every episode dives into a real event. I’m talking murders, serial killers, haunted places and demonic sightings. I’ve been a little freaked out this entire week. But hey, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger… see what I did there lol.
February Mood Board
February 6, 2018
So far, 2018 has felt ... weird. I'm not exactly sure why, but I know I want to be more present than I was in January. I'll admit that I was in a daze in January, but I refuse to let life keep passing me by. I’m a little in shock that it’s already February. There’s a lot I should focus on this month. But honestly, I already need a mini vacation. So this month, I’m focusing on two things: celebrating any and every obstacle I overcome (no matter how small it is) and checking my judgmental attitude at the front door. I want to judge myself and others waaaayyy less than I do. Should I eat cleaner and stop binge-watching Netflix shows after a long day of work? Yep, but like I said, I really need a vacation and self-forgiveness for my slip-ups. That's why I’m channeling flow and ease this month. I'm still going to push myself to keep moving towards my goals, but I'm finally accepting that my timeline might not be the same as God's timeline. Great things take time, and we are allowed to take pit stops on our journey towards our dreams. Less stress and more fun! That sounds like a much better life than stress, stress, stress and a little bit of fun every now and then. It's all just a balancing act, and once we find the right balance between work and play, we'll feel more aligned and have more energy to get the important things done. It just takes time to figure it out. Afterall "perseverance is a great substitute for talent" - Steve Martin
So now I want to hear from you! What are you guys focusing on this month? No matter what goals you set for yourself, I know you'll create the magical life you want. You know you deserve it. And I can't thank you enough for taking time out of your day to read this little note from me. Wishing you a day full of flow, ease and happiness! Until next time.
Weekly Update 01.20.18
January 20, 2018
Live it up: Here’s how to make a $10 wine bottle taste hella more expensive. You are welcome.
Wanderlust: Need a mini-retreat? I know I do, and these top liked Airbnbs around the world (a lot are right here in the USA) have me checking flight prices.
I also found this article about 5 under-the-radar french cities to visit… I need to go to all of them this year! It’s happening because I said so.
And if you’re looking to check more festivals off your list this year, here are 11 amazing festivals around the world that we should all start saving for.
Smart Money tip of the week (Because you’re too good to be a broke bitch): It's Not Just HQ Trivia: These 10 Apps Will Legit Make You Money - Girlboss.com Multiple streams of income are always better than one honey.
Get fit: Everything you need to know about an anti-inflammatory diet.
Shop til you drop: Spotlight sale of the week: Stuart Weitzman is offering up to 50% off until 1/31, so if you want an investment piece of designer, quality over the knee boots, now’s your chance to get them at a fraction of the price!
And here are some of my favorite budget finds from the week featuring Stuart Weitzman and Shein (an amazing wholesale site) just in time for Valentine’s Day. I love this website, but you have to read every single item’s measurements and reviews because the sizes really vary. If you don’t know your measurements, grab a tape measure from your kitchen so you can know your accurate size. Oh, and this section includes affiliate links.
Live Well: Here’s a cute and helpful infographic breaking down easy ways for us to take care of ourselves. The ABCs to self-care.
Menu: I heard about Snow Days NYC one day at work this week. Honestly, I don’t care that it’s winter; I need to try this dessert place ASAP!
What the world needs is love: It’s no secret that our world has some pretty f*ed up people in it, but here are two legitimate ways to contribute to making the world a better place today.
- Help the children. There is a disgusting and heart-breaking epidemic going on in Pakistan right now. If you haven’t heard about the protests in Pakistan to take down a pedophile ring that’s been abusing and killing little children, you can read about it here. I haven't found a site explaining exactly how to help, but we can at least spread awareness and align ourselves with organizations that fight to end human trafficking. #JusticeForZainab
- Help Rohingya Refugees in Myanmar and Bangladesh who have gone through actual hell. Read more about the crisis here.
Weekly Wins
1.) This week was my bday! I’m now 24; and oddly, I feel more secure. 23 was a mother effing rough ass year, and 24 already feels calmer. There’s something about even numbered years. Things just seem to fall into place. Plus, I feel more grateful for everything nowadays. My constant “don’t listen to the negative voice inside my head” exercises are finally paying off. Plus, my birthday is the perfect excuse to treat myself to a few things off my monthly luxe list..aka wish list. Check it out here.
2. ) Riverdale came back. Y’all, my roommate and I are obsessed with this show, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Also, I get so much fashion inspiration from Riverdale. That’s a key factor for me becoming obsessed with a show.
3. I got back in my gym flow. I didn’t make it to all of my classes, but I made it to 3, which is a lot better than zero. And I went to power yoga, which completely whipped my butt. I was limping all day at work, but at least I know I’m one step closer to my fitness goals.
Weekly Ls
1.)Not waking up early. I’ve been trying to wake up around 6am every morning, but it just did not happen this week. I’m getting myself used to a morning routine so I have time to meditate, spend some time surfing the internet, work on my blog and take my time while getting ready for work. Next week, I’m committing to going to bed between 10:30 and 11pm. I know next week is my week to master this.
2.)Blowing my budget. Since it was my birthday week, so I gave myself permission to blow the weekly budget and eat out way more than I should have. Now I'm ready to get back on my meal prepping game and save some precious deniero.
3.)The House of Horrors in California. If you haven’t heard, 13 siblings were held captive and tortured by their parents. It’s a blessing that one of the siblings escaped and now all 13 siblings are receiving medical and psychiatric help. But damn! This family has been through hell. These siblings will never have normal lives, no matter how much professional help they receive. Here is an article breaking down how we can help them. If you guys have found other, legitimate sites that allow us to donate to this family, please link them below in the comments. It’s going to take a lot of financial resources to help them establish a healthy lifestyle, and they deserve it after everything they've experienced.

Dear Diary: How to Bounce Back from the Struggle Bus
January 11, 2018
![]() |
Photo by Photo by Saz B |
The start of a new year is always exciting. We get to leave our past mistakes behind and start off on a fresh, energetic foot. I admire the people who have been disciplined enough to tackle the beginning of 2018 with insane productivity, but I’ve still been struggling... a lot. And if you’ve been struggling too, I just want to let you know that it’s ok! We will get there. Baby steps are still steps in the right direction, and we won't be taking baby steps forever.
For me, my biggest obstacles for the past few weeks have been time management, lack of energy and self-discipline. And these three things react off of one another. If I don't practice self-discipline when it comes to sticking to my schedule (aka time management), then I waste the time when I have the most energy. It's a vicious cycle that I'm fighting to break. I want to keep practicing when to say no, not overbooking myself, and treating my body right. The funny thing about breaking bad habits is they are relatively simple to fix, but a simple plan can still feel like pulling teeth when we don’t feel like doing the things we know we should do.
I wish I had all the answers to know how to push myself to be better. I really fucking don’t, but I’m taking small steps each day because those small steps will snowball into huge results. A rolling start is still momentum. We will figure this out together. Now, let’s do this, and if we're lucky, we'll even have fun on the way. We woke up today with another chance to chase our dreams. I hope you're chasing yours, and thank you for reading. You're helping me chase mine. Until next time my dear!
